We are now fully moved into our new apartment. No more boxes, no more trips across town, no more lifting heavy boxes, no more stairs.
Comcast came yesterday to get us hooked up. To avoid service fees, I went to the office and picked up a DVR and a second cable box. However, nobody told me that the DVR acts as its own cable box, so now I need to go back to Comcast and turn in both cable boxes and pick up another DVR for the Bedroom.
For those moving, I highly recommend Two Men And A Truck. They did a great job getting our stuff from point A to point B. I even helped them out by moving all our non-furniture out the previous two days. Ever since I got off work on Thursday, I have been going non-stop moving stuff. There were points where I just wanted to stop, but I kept going.
Wednesday night, we loaded both cars up with our first loads. I went to work from 4am to 1pm on Thursday. I then met my wife at the new apartment to sign the lease and get to keys. We unloaded our cars and went back and forth between apartments a couple more times. For our last load of the evening, Tiffany's sister and her boyfriend helped us out with the entertainment items. On Friday, we made one load in the morning. We took a break to wait for Comcast to come. After that, we went back for another load, but on our way back, we decided to go ahead and go to the church for the Easter event. I then dropped off the load I had, then went back to the old apartment by myself to take care of things before the movers came in the morning. While I was doing that, my wife was unpacking the boxes. I filled my car up with the last load, finished all the tasks that needed to be done, then waited for the movers to come at 9am this morning. By 11:30, all our stuff was in the new apartment. By 3, all the boxes were empty and everything was in place. We ordered out to Steak Out in celebration. I spent the rest of the day figuring things out with Comcast/DVR. I have a few more days off to rest before I have to go back to work Tuesday morning. This was truly a very difficult week for me. First, having to adjust to the new work schedule. Then add on top of that, preparing to move to a new apartment. How am I even awake right now?
We aren't done with the old apartment yet. We still need to go back and clean it before turning in the keys. I sure won't miss it. Say goodbye to the roaches and the !@#$# landlord.
