Wanted

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
We went to see Wanted last night. It was good, in some ways. The special effects were awesome. Lots of violence, blood, and language. The best way to describe it is The Matrix with an evil Neo.

Afterwards, we went to Walmart to take advantage of the tax free weekend. We bought a new printer.

Update

I actually got to sit at my desk and do some work from it today. For the past 2 weeks, I have been training with the other mail room until it was time to move. With this new contract, they remodeled the 2nd floor (there are other businesses sharing the building and one left recently) and brought in new equipment for us to use. To help with the transition, they transferred managers and employees from the other contract to the new contract. The next few weeks will be interesting. We are starting out small so we can work out any wrinkles before the fun begins Sept 4th.

Here are 2 pictures of my work area. Note that this is before we moved down to decorate.

Update

My dad was in town today, so we got to spend time with him. He took Tiffany and I to go see Batman. We then got together with Tiffany's mom, Carol (her sister), Rylee, and Robert to eat dinner at Poblano's Mexican Grill. After that, my dad got back on the road. He will actually be back in town later this week to check on things at work to see if everything is running smoothly with the new contract (which I am a part of).

Carol and Robert spent the week moving into their new house. Rylee spent most of the week either with us or Tiffany's mom while they were focused on moving.

I love my new job! I can't wait to see my first paycheck. I spent the week training with the other document control center for the medicare contract. Our work load will be much heavier with the new contract once things start rolling in next week. From what I was told, it looks like I will be assigned to indexing claims, which basically puts the id numbers from each claim into the computer. I definitely am much happier here than I was at Academy.

Batman was awesome! It was long, but worth every minute of it. Regal sells personal pan pizzas now, which I just had to try. It was great, but had to wait for them to cook it. It was a good thing we got their early. In other Regal news, they are actually adding an IMAX theater to the Regal 20 theater. The plan is to have it ready for Harry Potter in November.

New Job Update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So far so good. All I did the first day was sit in a classroom to watch videos and fill out paper work. I feel like I am in college again and my major is insurance, lol. One of my coworkers from Academy will be working with me at Palmetto. Also, I won't be able to talk about my job alot because of the security.

On top of starting my new job, I also am helping out with VBS all week. My week will be very busy.

I made it through my last day at Academy. I start my new job on Monday.

We had a rough storm Thursday afternoon. At one point, the wind was intense and it was raining hard. After surveying the damage, it seems we had a micro burst in the area around our apartment complex. We had trees down all over the place and I saw one tree in a house. Yet, there were no storm warnings and the only damage was in that small area. It reminds me of the micro burst in Grovetown a few years ago.

It's offical!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I just got the call from Palmetto GBA that I officially got the job. I start July 14th, which is a week sooner than they originally told me. I'm ok with it because it means a week less at Academy. The pay is much better than what I am making now, plus I will have great benefits. Another plus is that I will be saving gas since it is less than 5 minutes from our apartment.

Job Interview

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I have a job interview with Palmetto GBA today at 3pm for a Documents Control position. Basically, it's a mailroom job, but it pays a lot more than what I have now. I'm to a point where I am tired of working in retail.

Breaking News

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Just to let everyone know, I'm ok. There was a shooting in our parking lot at work. I was sitting in my car while on my lunch break when it happened not very far from me. I didn't see what happened, but I did hear 3 shots go off. I didn't see anything because there were cars blocking my view. It happened around the time us stockers were coming back from lunch, so there were witnesses that saw the whole thing. After the shots went off, I saw one of my coworkers running really fast to the store to get help. The other employees were on the phone calling 911. At this point, I still don't know what was going on. As I was approaching the scene, our store manager comes running out. Within a minute, emergency vehicles were showing up in all directions. I get to the scene to find the end result of the shooting. Our manager surveys the scene and tells me to go back to the store to let the other managers know it was ok to open the doors. When I get back to the store, almost everyone that was in the store is in the lobby wondering what was going on. After that, I went back to work, trying to not think about it, but that was impossible with customers asking and rumors going around.

From what I know, one of our employees was arguing on the phone with someone while in the store. When she left the store to go to her car, the ex pulls up and they have an argument. He pulls a gun out, shoots her twice, then turns the gun on himself.

Stormy Weather

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Yeah, we had a hail storm today. I was at work when it started, but I only heard it thanks to the skylights. It was coming down hard, about marble sized. By the time I left work (which was only a couple of minutes after it was over), the evidence was already gone and the sun was back out. Thankfully, there wasn't any damage to any cars from what I saw.

Update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
First of all, I would like to wish a late Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers on my friends list. My mom is in Mexico with her sister having a good time. She told me that they actually celebrate Mother's Day on Saturday instead of Sunday. Anyway, we took my mother-in-law to Tony Romas (Only because Outback had a three hour wait time). It was my sister-in-law's turn to pay since Tiffany and I took her out twice last week, including Wing Stop. Funny story, we ordered online, but I went to the wrong location to go get it.

At work, they made another modification to our work schedule. Instead of working Tuesday thru Saturday, with Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday trucks, they moved everything back a day to where we have trucks on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is good because Saturday was hard to work the truck with customers in the store.

Gas prices suck. $3.67 a gallon here.
Tax stimulus sucked. Only got back $600. How is that suppose to help? If you want to help boost the economy, all you need to do is give everyone a million dollars, jk.

I know I don't update as much as I should, but I am here reading your entries everyday.

Update

First of all, it's that time of the year again. That's right, it's Masters Week. The tournament starts tomorrow.

I've been working days for a few weeks now. I like it better than working nights. It seems the receiving crew is getting along great with the day crew. This week has been busy due to it being Masters week.

My dad came to visit while he had time during his latest business trip. Instead of going out to eat like we normally do, we stayed in and cooked. We had the whole gang there. All that was there included me, my dad, Tiffany, Tiffany's mom, Carol (Tiffany's sister), Robert (Carol's boyfriend), and Rylee.

Rylee is almost 20 months now. She is talking and walking like crazy now. She always wants to go outside and play. Now that it is warm, we have been taking her down to the pond to feed the ducks. She likes chasing them, lol.

My paid account is expiring soon. Would someone be nice and send me a few more months please?

Moving Update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
We are now fully moved into our new apartment. No more boxes, no more trips across town, no more lifting heavy boxes, no more stairs.

Comcast came yesterday to get us hooked up. To avoid service fees, I went to the office and picked up a DVR and a second cable box. However, nobody told me that the DVR acts as its own cable box, so now I need to go back to Comcast and turn in both cable boxes and pick up another DVR for the Bedroom.

For those moving, I highly recommend Two Men And A Truck. They did a great job getting our stuff from point A to point B. I even helped them out by moving all our non-furniture out the previous two days. Ever since I got off work on Thursday, I have been going non-stop moving stuff. There were points where I just wanted to stop, but I kept going.

Wednesday night, we loaded both cars up with our first loads. I went to work from 4am to 1pm on Thursday. I then met my wife at the new apartment to sign the lease and get to keys. We unloaded our cars and went back and forth between apartments a couple more times. For our last load of the evening, Tiffany's sister and her boyfriend helped us out with the entertainment items. On Friday, we made one load in the morning. We took a break to wait for Comcast to come. After that, we went back for another load, but on our way back, we decided to go ahead and go to the church for the Easter event. I then dropped off the load I had, then went back to the old apartment by myself to take care of things before the movers came in the morning. While I was doing that, my wife was unpacking the boxes. I filled my car up with the last load, finished all the tasks that needed to be done, then waited for the movers to come at 9am this morning. By 11:30, all our stuff was in the new apartment. By 3, all the boxes were empty and everything was in place. We ordered out to Steak Out in celebration. I spent the rest of the day figuring things out with Comcast/DVR. I have a few more days off to rest before I have to go back to work Tuesday morning. This was truly a very difficult week for me. First, having to adjust to the new work schedule. Then add on top of that, preparing to move to a new apartment. How am I even awake right now?

We aren't done with the old apartment yet. We still need to go back and clean it before turning in the keys. I sure won't miss it. Say goodbye to the roaches and the !@#$# landlord.
